The University of Minnesota Office for Business & Community Economic Development (BCED) is hosting its fifth annual summer program which is designed to introduce high school students to the basics of entrepreneurship and leadership. Throughout this five-week camp on the University campus, 35-40 Minneapolis high school students will engage in active learning sessions that cover business fundamentals and personal development. The camp develops students’ entrepreneurship capabilities, with an emphasis in leadership, teamwork and communication skills. Students also become familiar with potential career options and higher education opportunities.
The program is offered by the Office for Business & Community Economic Development (BCED) and is sponsored by various corporate, government and non-profit organizations, as well as university colleges.
In addition to exercises and interactive discussions, students will work on two application projects during the 2014 program:
Throughout the camp, leading Minnesota entrepreneurs will share their personal experiences and advice with students. Last year, the founders of Quality Bicycle Products and Zivix LLC led the students on a tour of its innovative facilities. jEM is a truly unique opportunity for the best and the brightest individuals to learn about business, leadership and social responsibility in a dynamic setting.
