The Office for Business & Community Economic Development offers many opportunities to contribute and get involved in programs that support local communities. We believe working together provides a chance for all to collaborate and utilize strengths to accomplish insurmountable tasks effectively.

The Business Accelerator Program matches each professional adviser with a small group of graduate students to work with a local small business for a year-long consulting project. Professional advisers devote at least an hour a month to working with the business owner and team to develop and propel its growth strategy. |
Junior Entrepreneurs of Minnesota (jEM) provides opportunities for area high school students to gain and apply knowledge about entrepreneurship and engage with local professionals around topics that are relevant to their interests. Community professionals teach workshops, mentor students, etc. |
The Community Technology Initiative refurbished computers for donation to community members who need them most. After removing data in compliance with government standards, BCED provides free computers to qualifying individuals, along with training courses. Skilled volunteers are needed to help the program keep up with high demand. |
