The Disability Resource Center Testing Center provides accommodations and testing services for students with disabilities when instructors are unable to provide accommodations within their own departments. We also provide resources for instructors on how to administer accommodations for their students within the department.

Welcome to the Interpreting/Captioning Unit (ICU) of the Disability Resource Center.  We provide communication access to DeafBlind, Deaf, and hard of hearing individuals in the University community.  We are a full-time staff of professionals who are committed to providing high quality sign language interpreting, real-time captioning, and media captioning services to students, staff, faculty, and guests of the University.

Student Access

The Disability Resource Center facilitates access and accommodations for students who experience barriers in University environments. Barriers can include those related to mental health, chronic health, medical conditions and a variety of other disabilities.  Our business hours are Monday-Friday, from 8:00 am-4:30 pm, with drop-in hours each day.

For students who want to get started working with our office:

Education & Training

The Disability Resource Center offers a variety of resources including: Education/training, consultation, technical assistance, and career information.  

To request a training, outreach, or technical assistance/consultation, please complete and submit our Request for DRC Outreach and Training Form. Someone from our office will contact you about your request within approximately 10 days.

Accommodations and Services

The Disability Resource Center promotes access and equity for all students, faculty, staff and guests of the University of Minnesota. Accommodation units assist in implementing accommodations approved by access consultants in Student Access and UReturn access consultants. They also collaborate and consult with colleges, departments and units to create accessible learning and working environments. The University is committed to advancing access for everyone.
