Equity & Diversity Certificate

The Equity and Diversity Certificate helps participants develop tools necessary for advancing equity and diversity in all aspects of their personal and professional lives. This certificate program is sponsored by the Office for Equity and Diversity. It's free of charge and open to student, faculty, and staff on all campuses of the University of Minnesota.

Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life staff assist in curriculum development for these sessions which span the spectrum across broader diversity topics (i.e., power, privilege, identity) and specific content areas (e.g., race, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc.).

Outcomes of the Equity and Diversity Certificate

  • Offers participants a theoretical framework for understanding equity and diversity work
  • Helps participants develop necessary skills for equity and diversity works
  • Gives participants direct experience working and communicating across differences

The Equity and Diversity Certificate has 2 levels

  • Basic - 20 total hours
  • Advanced - 42 total hours
