Group for anybody and everybody! We strive to be the "all-other" category, for bisexual, sexually diverse, questioning, label-free, versatile, and bi-friendly individuals.

Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies

Academic department full of courses that explore gender identity, sexual orientation, and the contributions, struggles, and real-world issues affecting people of all genders & sexual identities.

GLBT Minor

Specific cohort of students earning credits towards an academic concentration of courses focused on GLBT identities. In a world where GLBT people are more visible, having a strong background in GLBT history, culture, and theory is an increasinbly valuable part of any education.

Graduate Interdisciplinary Group in Sexuality Studies

Group of graduate students who create an intellectual cohort that assists in the creation and dissemination of knowledge and research around topics impacting sexual orientation and gender identity, often with intersections across race, class, faith, immigration, gender, and global topics.

Kinky U

Discussion forum (not a play group) for those interested in all forms of kink, including roleplaying, leather, BDSM, and much more - the group is completely safe and confidential.

Lavender Celebration GLBT Graduation Cohort

Every year, our cohort of GLBT graduates is honored in April at our Lavender Celebration where they are provided with caps & rainbow tassels, as well as a certificate of completion and recognition. If you're graduating this year, please let us know so we may include you in our list of awardees

Lavender House

Living Learning Community with 30+ students in Comstock Hall through focused on uncovering the histories and cultures across GLBTA communities. Students are able to explore & express their whole selves including their gender identities & sexualities, in a safe and affirming environment.

Mentor/Mentee Program

Program where students (mentees) can begin to adjust to the U of M campus with the help of employees (mentors) who serve to assist LGBTQIA students in discussions around academics, social life, navigating the U, and identity development.

MN Queer Science

Network of GLBTQ folks from all fields of science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine. We are composed primarily of U of M staff, faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, but we also have members from beyond academia.

NeuroQueers

Group centered around LGBT+ people who would also benefit from a safe space surrounding mental health and self-care.

oSTEM

LGBTQIA+ group for students of all identities interested in STEM fields.

OutLaw

GLBTA student organization at the U of M's Law School, founded in 1984 & originally named Lambda. We are a support system, social organization, and connector for people interested in the GLBTA community & legal issues surrounding it.

Pride @ Work

Social network for GLBTA employees at the U of M (including staff, faculty, & administrators), working to improve campus climate on topics affecting GLBTA employees including same-sex benefits, safer classrooms, & being a GLBTA professional at the U.

Queer Graduate and Professionals Student Association

Community & support network for queer graduate & professional students, focusing on issues pertinent to our lives, social activities, and assuring the representation and empowerment of graduate students & professional students at the U of M. Students & non-students are welcome at all events.

Queer Issues Committee, U of M - Morris

Provides support for students across the U of M Morris campus who are struggling with issues related to their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Queer Men

Group for gay, bisexual, male-identified, and progressive individuals. Activities include discussion on hot-button queer topics of the day (gay marriage, adoption, homophobia, etc.), movie socials, pizza socials, games, and outings at nearby hotspots.

Queer Student Cultural Center

Student-led, registered 501c3 organization whose mission is to celebrate diversity and culture within the queer community, provide a safe space for queer students to meet, while empowering other LGBT individuals, groups, and organizations.

A group for Queer and/or Trans graduate and professional students at the University of Minnesota to meet and connect

St. Paul Advisory Group

Comprised of faculty, students, and staff, this group addresses many campuswide challenges, collaborative work, and a broader appreciation and understanding of the GLBTA community.

Steven J. Schochet Endowment & Board

In honor of alumnus Steven J. Schochet, this board povides funding for initiatives that impact campuswide change and increased dialogue for social change across the U of M.

Systemwide Commission

Group for employees & students across all the U of M coordinate campuses (Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, St. Paul, & Twin Cities) devoted to improving campus climate & sharing best practices across the U of M system.

Tongues Untied

Group deeply rooted in the experiences of people of color who identify as GLBTQ and/or same-gender-loving. Based on the famous documentary "Tongues Untied" by Marlon Riggs & Essex Hemphill, this group serves to connect students across the U of M community while providing outreach efforts to local schools and community organizations.

Tranarchy

Tranarchy is a group for transgender, transsexual, genderqueer, and trans-allied individuals, as well as those who are in the process of questioning their gender identity.

Trans Advisory & Action Team (TAAT)

TAAT, formerly the Transgender Commission, at the University of Minnesota is a coalition of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members organizing across disciplines and departments for access and liberation for transgender and gender nonconforming people. TAAT is led by trans and gender nonconforming people and open to persons of all gender identities and expressions.

Tretter Collection in GLBT Studies

The Jean-Nickolaus Tretter Collection in GLBT Studies is a globally recognized GLBT archive of historical articles, books, research, and collectibles that catalog the histories and identities of GLBT across Minnesota and the world at large. Students utilize many of the documents and ephemera from the Tretter Collection in their research projects and academic papers.

 

U of M Duluth - GLBT Student Services

The mission of the GLBT Services Office is to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate programs and services that affirm GLBT people and their allies in support of their academic success and social development, while encouraging an environment which promotes and appreciates multiculturalism.
