Every year we honor the accomplishments of our LGBTQIA graduates and celebrate the achievements of our queer staff, faculty members, students and community members. We celebrate past successes and new chapters forward with an award ceremony, entertainment, a keynote speaker(s), and (of course) CAKE!

Leadership & Service Award 

The LGBTQIA Leadership & Service Award recognizes employees, students, departments, and groups who go above & beyond in their roles, leadership, or service at the U of M to show a strong demonstrated committment to LGBTQIA social justice and/or an increase in knowledge and awareness around LGBTQIA topics & identities.

Breaking the Silence Award

The LGBTQIA Breaking the Silence Award recognizes employees, students, departments, and groups demonstrating courage in the face of discrimination based on gender identity, gender expression, and/or sexual orientation by improving climate through specific departments or initiatives impacting gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and ally (GLBTA) people at the University of Minnesota.

 

Community Excellence Award 

The LGBTQIA Community Excellence Award recognizes employees, students, departments, and groups who go above and beyond as a leader with a strong, demonstrated commitment to building connections with the University of Minnesota's Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life for the purpose of bridging communities with education.
