An email from Housing Residential Life will be sent to you regarding early move-in.  As long as you are registered for MCAE Kick Off and ATTEND the events, you will not be charged for coming in early! 

WARNING:  If you register for this event and MOVE-IN early, but do not attend you WILL BE CHARGED for the early move-in.

The Office for Equity and Diversity is proud to sponsor the MCAE Kick Off, which helps first-year students make a successful transition to college by building community and identifying academic and cultural supports on campus. It provides an opportunity for you to meet students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

MCAE Kick Off offers a unique opportunity to:

List of what you will need to register successfully for the MCAE Kick Off

  1. Student ID (found on your student ID card)
  2. U of MN Email (if you have not yet done so, please activate your email).
  3. You will automatically be enrolled into the MCAE Academic Success Action Plan (M-ASAP) when you registration. Please take a moment to review the M-ASAP plan:
  4. Students with orientation dates that over lap with the KICK OFF dates at the end of AUGUST are asked to contact their colleges immediately and select another orientation date due to time conflicts between the MCAE Kick Off and scheduled orientation activities.

Note: This event is specifically tailored to domestic incoming undergraduate first-year students, but we welcome any students who want to participate in the Kick Off. Please note: there are additional programming opportunities for transfer students avaialbe through the Office of First Year Programs. Additionally, there are opportunities for international students through the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office. Please visit for more information

As a registered MCAE Kick Off participant, you will be allowed to move in EARLY!  

That means you get to avoid the rush and already be settled as other students arrive.  We will also have a social program that evening for all Kick Off particpants to meet other participants in your halls.  Don't miss this exciting benefit of being a registered participant of Kick Off!

Kick Off Entertainment Showcase

If you are interested in being selected as an entertainment group for the Kick Off Entertainment Showcase at Ted Mann Concert Hall on the first evening of Kick Off, please stay tuned to register your group. The registration will open SUMMER 2018!   Watch for the link HERE!


Kick Off INFO FAIR Registration

The 2018 MCAE Kick Off Info Fair Registration will go live Summer 2018.

Please share the following registration link with other student groups, University departments, or (external) community groups who are interested in participating in the info fair. Deadline is 2 weeks prior to the event at 12 p.m.

Monday, August 28th, 2017

1:00-3:10pm (access to set up at 12:30pm)

Location: Willey Hall Atrium


University departments and community groups:

Tuesday, August 29th, 2017

2:15-3:45pm  (access to set up at 1:45pm)

Location: Coffman Memorial Union 2nd floor


Student groups MUST be currently registered with Student Unions and Activities to qualify for the student group info fair (Aug 28th). Groups can check their status here:
