Professional and Administrative (P & A) Leadership Award


Established in 2012, the Professional and Administrative (P & A) Award annually recognizes members of the campus P& A staff who have made outstanding contributions to improve the work environment for P & A women employees.


This award is made possible by the Women’s Center.


A $1500 award will be given to the recipient’s department to be used by the winner in support of her professional development programs and activities. Award to be given at the annual Celebrating University Women Awards Program sponsored by the Women's Center.


4:30 p.m., 3rd Friday in May (May 17, 2013)


University of Minnesota P & A employees holding at least 75% time appointments are eligible.

Selection Criteria

Nominees will be evaluated on the basis of the narrative and letters of support documenting outstanding achievements and contributions to improving the work environment for P & A women employees. Achievements must reach beyond the scope of the nominee’s job description. Contributions with wider impact and sustainability will be given greater consideration. The narrative should provide specific examples of excellence worthy of this recognition.

Selection Committee

Appointed by Women's Center, to include three or more P & A women, including past award winners.

Nomination Process

University of Minnesota faculty, staff, students or organizations may make nominations; self-nominations are also welcome.

Nominations must include the following items:

  • One letter of nomination (a narrative describing how the nominee meets the criteria
  • Two letters of support
  • Nominee’s resume or curriculum vitae
