- From May 25-27, you can support the George Floyd Global Memorial as they host the 3rd Annual Rise & Remember Celebration. This multifaceted event series will conclude with a free public festival at George Floyd Square to pay tribute to the neighbors, caretakers, activists, and community members who made the memorial possible.
- Get involved with the second annual U of M Juneteenth Celebration centering on the theme of The Art of Freedom: Joy. Resistance. Rest. on June 17, from noon to 6 pm. The free event will begin with a commemorative march for Black lives starting at University’s Robert J. Jones Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC). The march will feature a rose memorial, a moment of silence honoring George Floyd and many others who have lost their lives to police violence. This event, led by Professor Terresa Moses, is presented by the Office for Equity and Diversity and the College of Design.
- Memorialize the Movement, a community partner to the U of M Liberal Arts Engagement Hub in College of Liberal Arts and Minnesota Transform, will hold its third annual Justice for George event on May 27 and 28. This year’s event, focused on Breaking Barriers and Building Bonds, will use murals to spark conversation around mental health and holistic healing practices within BIPOC communities.
